Matt has been at Cassville Baptist since 2015, and in youth ministry since 2006, where he served as a youth director and student pastor in Tennessee. Matt studied mechanical engineering at Nashville State Technical Institute and pastoral studies through TBC Seminary Extension. He has worked on staff at Impact Camp, through the TBC, as well as worked with local schools through FCA in both TN & GA. Matt leads the high school boys small group, and in addition to playing lead guitar in the praise team on Sunday mornings, he also directs the youth praise team on Wednesday nights.
He has been married to his wife Heather since 2001, who together are proud parents of Katie & Ayden. Heather, who has served as a student leader for more than 12 years, serves as a middle school girls small group leader, VBS volunteer, & children’s church teacher.
Matt has a strong connection to students, and a passion to see them come to know Christ in a personal way, build their faith through the most influential years of their lives, and to share that faith in an impactful way to their family & peers. In his free time, Matt also enjoys hobbies of guitar, hiking, backpacking, and woodworking.
Children's Ministry Director
I’ve been married to Chris Harris since 1994, and we have four children: Kinsley, who is 29 and her husband Delmar; Johnathon, who is 23, and his wife, Kenya; Christopher who is 20; and Jayden who is 14. I enjoy spending time with my family and crafting. We’ve been attending Cassville Baptist Church since the Fall of 2000. Shortly after, I had found my calling working with the children, where I have had the privilege to work and/or direct VBS and Awana for almost 15 years. I currently enjoy working as the Children’s Ministry Director, while watching the children learn and grow in their walk with the Lord. My heart is the happiest when I’m serving the families in our church and community with outreach events like Fun in the Son, Angel Tree, and Fall Festival.
I am a native Georgian and moved to Cartersville in 1993 with my husband, Tom. We have 2 children: Caroline, who is 24 and an event coordinator in Maryville, TN and Jonathan, who is 22 and will soon finish his degree in Cyber Security from Chattahoochee Tech. I taught 2nd and 5th grades for 14 years before joining the team at Cassville Baptist in 2016. I love travel, reading, paper crafting, and appreciating music, theatre, and art.
